Your swing needs to have some snap in it and palming the club, or gripping it tightly, is not going to allow you to get that snap.
Don’t palm the club!
Hold the handle as much in and with the fingers as possible. The idea is to get the feel of the club in the fingers of each hand. The golf club should not be held in the way you would hold a baseball bat.
Now your grip needs to be firm, but your fingers are going to hold and control the club throughout the swing.
In the short game you need a fine touch and a sense of feel. This is not going to happen when your palm is controlling your club. It just won’t.
Once you get this aspect down, you’ll walk up to your short approach shot and know you are going to drop the ball near the pin.
